Contingency Planning and Security Division
The Contingency Planning and Security Division (CPSD) in Defra is responsible for co-ordinating Defra’s contingency planning and developing the Department’s Contingency Planning Strategy. The work is mostly discharged through CPSD’s Contingencies Branch which consists of two teams:
The Branch also provides:
- A Secretariat for the Contingency Planning Board,
- A focal point for Contingency Planning policy in Defra,
- Departmental representation at cross government fora
- UK representation at NATO Food and Agriculture Planning Committee (FAPC)
- Maintenance of the Generic Response Plan
- Maintenance and development of the Department’s Emergency Operations Centre to meet the Department’s Lead Government Department responsibilities.
