Consultation on a licensing scheme for the sale and purchase of non-compliant paints for use on historic buildings and vintage vehicles
This consultation closed on 12 December 2007.
This consultation outlines proposals for a licensing scheme which implements a derogation in the 'Paints' Directive 2004/42/EC. This is a deregulatory measure which would enable a licence-holder to continue to obtain non-compliant paint products in strictly limited quantities for the purposes of restoring and maintaining historic buildings and vintage vehicles.
Introduction of a licensing scheme will provide economic benefits to the specialist companies undertaking this restoration work and help to ensure that the cultural value of historic buildings and vintage vehicles can be maintained.
