Consultation on Draft Noise Action Plans
This consultation sought views on draft noise action plans for agglomerations, major roads (outside agglomerations) and major railways (outside agglomerations), which fulfils obligations under the Environmental Noise Directive (2002/49/EC) and the Environmental Noise (England) Regulations 2006 (as amended). Please note that these draft noise action plans only apply to England.
Specifically, we consulted on:
- Draft Noise Action Plan template for 23 agglomerations
- The supporting data document for the agglomeration template
- Draft Noise Action Plan for major roads (outside agglomerations)
- Draft Noise Action Plan for major railways (outside agglomerations)
The consultation ran for 16 weeks and closed on Wednesday 4 November 2009. The consultation package consisted of the following:

Notes:
- An agglomeration is defined as an urban area with a population in excess of 250,000 inhabitants.
- A major road is a road with more than 6 million vehicle passages a year.
- A major railway is a railway that has more than 60,000 rail passages a year.
