Dear Consultee,
Consultation on Aquatic Animal Health – KHV Disease status for England and Wales
1. I am writing to invite your views on which health status would be most appropriate for England and Wales in respect of Koi Herpesvirus (KHV), under Annex III of Council Directive 2006/88/EC on animal health requirements for aquaculture animals and products thereof, and on the prevention and control of certain diseases in aquatic animals.
2. The following documents may be found on Defra’s website at:
www.defra.gov.uk/corporate/consult/khv/index.htm :
- This letter
- Consultation document (plus annexes)
- List of consultees
- Partial Impact assessment (plus annex)
3. The process for controlling KHV under Council Directive 2006/88/EC includes the requirement to declare a health status, and we would welcome your views on which of the five possible options available under the Directive, you think is most appropriate. In addition, I would be grateful for any information that you believe could be usefully included in the Impact Assessment. If you wish to obtain a paper copy of this consultation, please contact Hanna Sierzputowska at fishhealth@defra.gsi.gov.uk.
