Consultation on Aquatic Animal Health – KHV Disease status for England and Wales
Defra has launched a consultation on which health status would be most appropriate for England and Wales, in respect of Koi Herpesvirus (KHV) disease. Member States are required to declare a health status for each of the non-exotic diseases listed in Directive 2006/88/EC on animal health requirements for aquaculture animals and products thereof, and on the prevention and control of diseases in aquatic animals.
This is the first time KHV will come under Community controls and we need to decide which health status should be declared for England and Wales.
Your views and comments are invited by the closing date of 17 August 2009
