Consultation on modernisation of salmon and freshwater fisheries legislation; new order to address the passage of fish
This consultation closed on 10 April 2009.
This consultation seeks your views on the Governments proposals to introduce fish passes in obstructions and screening of water abstraction and discharge points, that will enable the free passage of migratory and freshwater fish. This will allow access to breeding, nursery and feeding grounds of fish in England and Wales. The measures proposed here will enable the UK to meet its obligations under the EU Water Framework Directive and the EU recovery plan for the stock of European Eel (EU Regulation 1100/2007).
