Consultation on Commission Proposal on the Review of the Fisheries Control Regulation
The Commission Proposal on the Review of the Control Regulation was adopted and published by the Commission on 14 November 2008 and there have been initial discussions by Member States at Working Group meetings. The proposal is scheduled for discussion at the June Fisheries Council with a view to implementing the final proposals in January 2010.
We wrote to representative organisations on the 2nd December for their initial comments, enclosing a copy of the Commission’s press release and the Proposal.
An impact assessment has now been prepared on the costs and benefits of the proposal as currently drafted. The impact assessment at this stage is an initial one and will be further refined as more information becomes available
Interested organisations and individuals are invited to comment further on the proposal and the impact assessment, these will help to inform the Governments view on the proposal as it is negotiated in Brussels.
Comments on the Proposals should be sent by Friday 24 July 2009
