Consultation on the review and update of the Control of Trade in Endangered Species (Designation of Ports of Entry) Regulations 1985

This consultation is now closed.

This consultation invites your views on three options regarding the designation of ports and airports for the import and export of CITES (Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species) listed animals and plants.

The changes are necessary to continue to comply with EU CITES legislation and to ensure consistency with other import/export requirements for animals and animal products.

The consultation exercise was despatched on 22 June 2007 with an original deadline for responses of 14 September 2007. However, because of data corruption problems a number of addressees did not receive consultation packs.

As a consequence remedial measures have been put in place and a revised deadline for responses has been set: 12 October 2007.
