Consultation on Biodiversity and Geological Conservation: statutory obligations and their impact
Ref: Ref number 13/10
Issued: Issue date 2010-03-09
Consultation starts: Open date 2010-03-09
Consultation closes: Close date 2010-06-01
Summary
This consultation seeks comments on a proposed revision to the Government circular ‘Biodiversity and Geological Conservation – Statutory obligations and their impact within the planning system’. This circular was first issued jointly by the Office of the Deputy Prime Minister and the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs in 2005. The revised circular will complement the ‘Consultation on a new Planning Policy Statement: Planning for a natural and healthy environment’ which is being issued for public consultation at the same time by the Department for Communities and Local Government.
The Government would welcome views on the proposed revision to the circular, particularly from planning authorities and organisations working in the field of biodiversity and geological conservation. In particular, it would welcome comments on any legislative issues not covered or adequately explained.
