Dear Consultee,
Consultation on a draft strategy on protecting and improving the health of honey bees in England and Wales
- I am writing to seek your views on this draft strategy. In particular, we would welcome your views on:
- the strategy’s aim and desired outcomes;
- the roles and responsibilities of stakeholders; and,
- activities and initiatives that we propose to undertake with other stakeholders towards the desired outcomes.
- The consultation is for all beekeepers in England and Wales, their suppliers and customers, beekeeping associations and those who benefit from honey bee pollination services. Conservation bodies and the general public should also have an interest.
- The draft strategy is the result of a series of informal discussions and consultations with beekeeping associations and other stakeholders. We now want to hear from a wider range of people, particularly individual beekeepers (especially those who will not make their views know through a local association) to make sure that the strategy represents accurately their priorities and needs.
- The following documents relating to the consultation may be found on Defra’s website: www.defra.gov.uk/corporate/consult/bee-health/index.htm
