Types of Delivery Body
Defra’s ‘delivery landscape’ collectively describes the large number of diverse bodies that help Defra deliver its strategic objectives.
Many of these bodies are part of the Defra network, i.e. are directly owned or sponsored by Defra, others are partners we work closely with.
The main types of sponsored body are:
- Defra's Executive Agencies
- Non departmental public bodies (NPDBs) which includes:
Defra also has responsibility for two Public Corporations. Public Corporations are industrial or commercial enterprises under direct Government control. They have a board whose members are appointed by Ministers, employ their own staff, who are not civil servants and manage their own budgets. Defra’s Public Corporations are:
