Tuberculosis in Cattle

Bovine tuberculosis (bTB) is one of the most difficult animal health problems currently facing the farming industry in Great Britain .

Animal Health is committed to tackling the disease, working in partnership with our stakeholders to do so.

Animal Health is responsible for undertaking routine surveillance and testing for this disease. Cattle are tested at intervals depending on how widespread bTB is in a particular region.

Compensation

Cattle found to be infected with tuberculosis are slaughtered and compensation paid to owners. To find out more: Compensation.
