Livestock Partnership

A government / industry livestock identification and tracing solution that has the confidence of all users, improves compliance, and provides value for money.

Request for Information

It is widely acknowledged, by both government and industry, that the processes and systems that together constitute the official controls for livestock identification and movements for Great Britain require significant improvement. The Livestock Partnership is undertaking a brokerage role between external organisations and government with the aim of identifying solutions that are acceptable to both government and the livestock industry. The attached RFI sets out an initial process that will allow us to explore ideas from relevant parties for future development.

Please note at this stage we are only seeking proposals for sheep, pigs, goats and deer with a geographical scope of England and Wales i.e. those species where movements are currently recorded on AMLS.

The document below will give you much more detail on the RFI process, including background on current systems, what is required in terms of proposals, how proposals will be handled and the timescales for submissions, etc.

The RFI deadline of the 31st January for submission of propositions has now passed. There was a very positive response with a total of 18 submissions from varying organisations, offering a wide range of services and products. These submissions are now in the process of being assessed and short listed prior to the first 'Panel Meeting' taking place on February 24th. The panel will consist of industry experts and government representatives who will agree the shortlist and invite those short listed to present to the panel in more detail. Endorsement will then be sought from the wider Livestock Partnership Industry Group for any options to be put forward to Ministers.
