Business Case Development Workstream
This workstream will produce the Initial Business Case for the Livestock Partnership . The Business Case will provide the justification and vehicle for securing Government funding over the programme’s lifetime.At present, the team developing the Business Case is undertaking business analysis projects to produce:
- The strategic business case
- An analysis of the costs to Government of operating the current processes and systems
- An initial estimate of the costs to Industry of operating the current processes and systems
- An analysis of current livestock data quality, timeliness and usage
- A description of the livestock Industry
The team will build upon the information assembled during the Livestock Register Programme by conducting further investigations and analysis to update, extend and improve the quality of evidence base.
The team has undertaken detailed studies of:
- The Cattle Tracing System (CTS)
- The Animal Movement Licensing System (AMLS)
- The use of data during the recent FMD outbreak
Currently the team is studying the use of data in the management of TB and other diseases. They are also working with the Meat Hygiene Service to understand the potential links with their work on Food Chain Information / Collection and Communication of Inspection Results.
This body of information and data will not only be used in the Business Case but is also expected to support many of the projects within the programme.
This workstream will have responsibility for ensuring that the information and data collected is representative and reflective of variations in practice in England, Scotland and Wales.
