Approval of avian quarantine facility or centre
Commission Regulation No 318/2007 lays down the animal health conditions for imports of certain birds into the European Community from third countries. In Great Britain, Animal Health administers the requirements of this Regulation and is responsible for:
- approving avian quarantine centres and facilities to receive bird imports;
- making checks on imported birds upon their arrival into the European Community and issuing the importer with a Common Veterinary Entry Document (CVED);
- supervising consignments of imported birds during quarantine & making tests for signs of Avian Influenza and Newcastle Disease;
- taking action upon the finding of Avian Influenza or Newcastle Disease in a consignment of birds during quarantine.

Please note that Animal Health makes charges for the approval of an avian quarantine facility or centre and also for the supervision of birds in quarantine.
