Knowing more about you
If you’re one of our customers (i.e. an owner or keeper of livestock) you may already provide information to the Rural Payments Agency, the Scottish Government or the Welsh Assembly Government. We use this information to carry out our work, but it doesn’t fully meet our animal health needs. In other words, we need to know more about you.
- We need more information about your livestock and your business, details such as production type (e.g. meat, dairy, breeding, etc). We also need to know who is the owner and who is the keeper of livestock. This additional information will enable us to provide you with a better service, particularly during outbreaks of serious animal disease.
- We know there are many demands on your time so we’ll collect the data at your convenience during our normal business hours. We’ll usually do this over the phone or face to face, to avoid you having to fill in more forms. This should only take five to 20 minutes, depending on the complexity of your business.
- We also want to make sure your data is safe and secure, so we have introduced an updated information security process. This will be as simple as setting up a password so you can get personal information such as test results over the phone.
- Next time you contact us we may ask you for these details. Don’t worry if it’s not a suitable time, we can always call you back. We’ll also review the information we hold on a regular basis, so in future we may contact you directly.
Your data
Information collected and processed by Animal Health is principally for disease control purposes. By improving the quality of the information available to us, we will be able to target our efforts more effectively and increase our ability to control notifiable animal diseases.
Further details of the use that will be made of your personal data can be found here.
