Notes:

Badgers were killed under the various strategies in badger removal operations when they were thought to be implicated in the spread of bovine TB to cattle. No badger removal operations took place in 1999

Figures prior to 1982 include badgers found dead which were recorded as being examined in connection with official investigations.

Although it is acknowledged that many of the counties listed no longer exist as administrative authorities, data is presented in this form in order to retain continuity for historical comparison.

11998 data excludes badgers killed as part of the badger culling trial. The results of the TB tests on theses badgers will not be released until the trial has finished.
