Bovine TB: Third TB Advisory Group meeting - Wednesday 24 January 2007

Summary of discussion

1. The meeting began with a presentation from Professor John Bourne, Chairman of the Independent Scientific Committee on Cattle TB (ISG). Professor Bourne gave the Group a brief overview of the ISG's work and emerging findings. He also gave the Group his views on good husbandry practices. Professor Bourne confirmed the ISG's final report would be published before the ISG’s final open meeting on 19 June 2007.

2. The Group then focussed their discussions on their views and comments on Defra's Husbandry Working Group's advice on husbandry best practice. The Group has been asked for its views and recommendations on how to communicate the advice and encourage uptake. Other colleagues from Defra joined the discussion to answer questions on the advice.

3. The Husbandry Working Group’s advice will be published on Defra’s website.

4. The next TB Advisory Group meeting will take place on 9 February 2007.
