25 March 2008 - Updated 2007 year-end TB statistics for Great Britain are now available.
27 February 2008 - The Environment, Food and Rural Affairs Committee has published a report entitled Badgers and Cattle TB: Final Report of the Independent Scientific Group (a pdf version is also available). The oral and written evidence (a pdf version is also available) taken by the Committee has also been published. Defra welcomes the report, which Ministers will consider carefully alongside all other available evidence before coming to a decision on badger culling.

15 November 2007 - The Veterinary Laboratories Agency (VLA) has produced a report analysing the comparative field performance of tuberculins 
(164 KB) produced by VLA Weybridge and by Dutch manufacturer ID Lelystad between 1 January 2005 and 31 March 2007.
9 November 2007 - Defra has published a list of bovine TB data that could be made available to researchers for further investigation into the epidemiology of bovine TB, subject to the relevant research requirements (Pack Code: AHW-TB RRD 2008-09).
2 November 2007 - The TB Advisory Group has written to Lord Rooker (590 KB) providing an update on its work and reporting on the discussions the Group has had with stakeholders. These discussions focused in particular on the Final Report of the Independent Scientific Group on Cattle TB (ISG).
22 October 2007 - A report by the Government's Chief Scientific Adviser, Sir David King, assessing the scientific evidence relating to TB in badgers and cattle (100 KB) has been published.
16 October 2007 - Defra has published final reports of 3 research projects, on (i) the application of postgenomics to investigate the nature of Mycobacterium bovis (SE3030), (ii) the demographic, ecological and epidemiological consequences of culling badgers (SE3032) and (iii) the ecological consequences of removing badgers from an ecosystem (ZF0531).
24 September 2007 - Defra has published final reports of 2 research projects, on (i) an in-depth histopathology of lymph node granulomas (lesions) in bovine TB (SE3225), and (ii) the development of tools to study immunopathology in badger TB (SE3226).
24 July 2007 - Defra has today published the final reports of two research projects, on (i) a multivariate analysis of risk factors affecting bTB incidents in cattle herds (SE3004), and (ii) the testing of vaccine candidates for bTB using a low dose aerosol challenge guinea pig model (SE3209).
23 July 2007 - Defra has today published monitoring data of the extended use of the gamma interferon test in Great Britain since October 2006. These statistics will be updated on a monthly basis.
3 July 2007 - Defra has today published the final report of a research project (SE3013) looking into the pathogenesis and diagnosis of tuberculosis in cattle
19 June 2007 - Defra has today published the final report of a research project (SE3110), a molecular genetic analysis of badger social structure and bovine TB.
18 June 2007 - The final report (2.5 MB. Please note this is a large file) of the Independent Scientific Group on Cattle TB (ISG), presented to the Secretary of State for Environment Food and Rural Affairs, is now available. A press release (19 KB) is also available.

14 June 2007 - The organisers and facilitators of Defra's second Annual TB Conference, held on 17 May 2007, have produced a report of the day. This report (84 KB) contains the views of stakeholders expressed on the day and does not represent Government policy or views.
12 June 2007 - Defra has today published the final report of a research project (SE3036) examining the role of wild deer in the perpetuation of TB in cattle.
8 May 2007 - Defra has today published final reports of two research projects (WM0311 and WM0310), designed to assess current baseline data on the badger population in England.
17 April 2007 - Final reports of three Defra funded research projects were published today, on (i) the risk to cattle from Mycobacterium bovis infection in wildlife species other than badgers (SE3009), (ii) the dynamics and risk factors for bovine TB transmission in restocked herds (SE3026), and (iii) disease dynamics and diagnostic strategies for low dose TB infection in cattle (SE3024).
22 March 2007 - The TB Advisory Group has today published its comments and views on the Husbandary Working Group's advice (21 KB) on husbandary best practice. The Group was asked to consider the advice and offer views on options for creating demand and encouraging uptake of the practical measures in the husbandry advice.
1 March 2007 - Pre-movement testing is extended to younger animals from today. A news release has been issued.
28 February 2007 - Advice on husbandry best practice to help reduce the risk of bovine TB transmission has been published. This was produced by the Bovine TB Husbandry Working Group which includes members from farming, veterinary and wildlife organisations.
16 January 2007 - The TB
Advisory Group's advice to Defra Ministers and the Chief Veterinary
Officer on pre-movement
testing (61 KB) has now been published. The report makes a number of useful recommendations
to improve the practical delivery of pre-movement testing. A news
