PETS: Approved routes and transport companies for Registered Assistance dogs

The Guide Dogs For The Blind Association, in partnership with other UK assistance dog organisations, Defra and a number of UK airlines has produced a set of guidelines for assistance dog owners wishing to use the Pet Travel Scheme.

On certain approved air routes (i.e. those approved by Defra to carry pets into the UK under the Pet Travel Scheme), assistance dogs can travel with their owners in the passenger cabin rather than in the hold as cargo.

Please remember that assistance dogs entering the UK under the Pet Travel Scheme must meet all of the rules of the Scheme (note that failure to do so may result in the dog being required to enter quarantine) – please refer to this site for further details about the Scheme rules or ring the PETS Helpline on 0870 241 1710.

The following routes and transport companies may be used to bring registered assistance dogs only into the UK from PETS countries. Certain routes only carry guide/hearing dogs.

Routes may change and new ones may be added. See the PETS website or ring the Helpline for the latest information. Some routes are seasonal or irregular so check availability and all your other proposed travel arrangements with the transport company before booking your journey to the UK. Check the costs, requirements and procedures. Companies may have their own additional conditions of travel.
