PETS: Background Information

In September 1998 the government published the report by the Advisory Group on Quarantine (the AGQ) Quarantine and rabies: a reappraisal. The Advisory Group was chaired by Professor Ian Kennedy, and is also known as "the Kennedy Report". It set out the Group's recommendations for a reform of the U.K. quarantine regulations.

This section of the site contains a summary of the recommendations, and the chapter of the report dealing with the risk of introduction of rabies into the United Kingdom (the Risk Assessment).
