International trade - EU exports and TRACES

Trade Control and Expert System (TRACES) registration

Exporters (economic operators) may wish to register their details on the TRACES system using the on line registration procedure. A step-by-step guide to the registration procedure is available (please note: this guide will open in a new window for easier reference). After registration, economic operators may apply to the issuing Animal Health Divisional Office (AHDO) for an Intra Trade Animal Health Certificate (ITAHC) via the TRACES website, by completing Part 1 of the ITAHC on line, electronically signing it and then submitting it to the AHDO.

As a guide, the EU Commission has issued an online training manual which demonstrates how the system is supposed to work.

Printable Application Form

Economic operators who are not registered with TRACES can apply to the AHDO for an ITAHC using the printable application form Adobe Acrobat PDF icon (90 KB), TRACES EXA notes for guidance Adobe Acrobat PDF icon (82 KB) are available to assist in the completion of TRACES EXA.

TRACES Guidance

For further information on the use of the TRACES system, economic operators and veterinarians should refer to the Guidance for Exporters and Veterinarians Adobe Acrobat PDF icon (496 KB).

The Customer Information Note 04/72 was issued on 30 April 2004 and explains the arrangements that apply to intra-Community trade export health certification for live animals, germplasm and certain animal products from 1 May 2004.

A table Adobe Acrobat PDF icon (180 KB) has been prepared to assist economic operators and other users of TRACES in selecting the correct ITAHC for a consignment.
