1. Highly pathogenic avian influenza (HPAI) in certain third countries
2. Import of poultry meat products from China
Purpose
- To advise you of the latest situation in respect highly pathogenic avian influenza in certain Third countries and imports of poultry meat products from China.
Background
2. Please see Customer Information Note 2008/129 and OVS letter 2008/56 issued by the FSA.
Action for OVSs
3. Please note:
- that imports of poultry meat products from China are likely to be permitted from September (once establishments have been approved and eligible for export), and have to be accompanied by an attestation that they have been subjected to a chemical test. The results of the test must accompany the consignment;
- poultry meat products from the Province of Shandong in China must be heat treated to at least 70°C throughout the meat.
