As you know Commission Decision 2006/236/EC requires Member States to test consignments of fishery products from Indonesia for heavy metals and certain specific species for histamine to ensure compliance with EU standards. This Decision was implemented by means of a Declaration issued under Regulation 59 of the POAO (TCI) (England) (No 4) Regulations 2004.
I understand that the Commission are still considering whether these restrictions will continue or be revoked. In the meantime, we would be very grateful if you would continue collecting this information. Please therefore send us by Email details of all the testing you have carried out from 1 January 2008 to 31 March 2008. Please use the title “Indonesian Results” in the subject box and send these results by close of play on 16 April 2008 to our dedicated Imports Helpline email address: imported.food@foodstandards.gsi.gov.uk
Please let me know if there will be any difficulty in meeting this request. Thank you for your assistance.
