Highly pathogenic avian influenza in Israel - Lifting of restrictions
1. On 28 February we issued Declaration IAH 2008/07 banning or restricting imports of live birds/bird products from certain parts of Israel due to an outbreak of highly pathogenic avian influenza (HPAI). These measures were taken in accordance with Commission Decision 2008/161/EC.
2. On 9 April the European Commission advised Member States of the action taken by the Israeli Authorities to deal with the outbreak confirming that Israel is now free of HPAI.
3. Declaration IAH DEC 2008/07 has therefore been revoked.
4. Imports of the animal and products referred to in Article 3 of Decision 2008/161/EC can resume from the whole country. However, according to that EU decision, until 2 July, health certificates accompanying all consignments must be annotated to include the words:
‘Consignment in accordance with Commission Decision 2008/161/EC’
