Foot and Mouth Disease in Cyprus

Purpose

1.  To advise you of the latest situation in Cyprus following an outbreak of Foot and Mouth Disease in 2007.

Background

2.  The Cypriot authorities have provided information to the European Commission confirming that FMD has been eradicated.

3.  The restrictions that had been put in place have therefore been lifted and normal trade rules can now resume.

4.  The Declaration issued on 24 January banning/restricting imports of FMD susceptible animals and genetic material has been revoked.
