Livestock movements, identification and tracing: electronic identification (EID) in sheep - stakeholder groups
A stakeholder group has been established as an advisory body to Defra on issues surrounding electronic identification (EID) for sheep (and goats) in England, responding to all eventualities arising from EU Council Regulation (EC) 21/2004.
Co-ordination Group
The England Co-ordination Group consists of industry stakeholders who help provide a forum through which stakeholders can discuss and advise Defra on technical and practical issues. The industry stakeholders represent:
- National Sheep Association (NSA)
- National Farmers Union (NFU)
- Livestock Auctioneers Association (LAA)
- British Meat Processors’ Association (BMPA)
- Association of Independent Meat Suppliers (AIMS)
- ADAS
- Farm Assurance
- National Scrapie Plan (NSP)
- Advisors (policy, farming, animal health and welfare, veterinary, technical)
- the Devolved Administrations (Scottish Executive Environment and Rural Affairs Department, National Assembly for Wales Agriculture Department & Department for Agriculture and Rural Development, Northern Ireland)
