Abstracts of the presentations made at two one-day conferences held to release the preliminary results of research and surveillance studies into zoonotic infections of livestock and the risk to public health.

The first conference was held in Edinburgh on 28 June 2000 and concentrated on Verocytoxogenic E.coli O157. Papers for this conference are available on request by emailing Defra at: webmaster@defra.gsi.gov.uk

The second conference took place in London on 7 December 2000 and focused on salmonella, campylobacter and yersinia in cattle, sheep and pigs.

The third conference took place on on February 12 2002 at National Agriculture Centre, Stoneleigh Park, Nr Coventry, Warwickshire and was entitled Defra Anti Microbial Resistance Draft Surveillance Strategy.
