Veterinary surveillance: Great Britain Poultry Register – Online Registration

The online service allows you to view and manage your poultry registrations using your web browser. First you will need to create an online account, with a username and password. Once you have done this, you will be able to either

  • Access details of poultry and premises you have already registered, or
  • Register your poultry and premises.
Technical requirements

To use the online system you will require a PC running Microsoft 2000 or Windows XP with Internet Explorer 5.5 (service pack 2), version 6 or 6.1. Currently Vista, Internet Explorer 7 and other browsers are not supported.

Creating your online account

You will need to provide basic information such as your name, address and email address, and to choose a username and password. Once you have successfully created your account, you will be invited to log in and access (or create) details of your registered premises. Start creating your account.

Changing your account details

You can change the details on your online account once you are logged in.

Registering a new poultry premises

If you have not previously registered your poultry and the premises at which you keep them, you can carry out this registration online. Once you have registered the poultry and premises, you will be given a Caller Reference Number. You will also receive confirmation of your registration by post. If you do not receive any such confirmation within two weeks of online registration please contact the Poultry Register Helpline on 0800 634 1112.

Linking your online user account to premises you have already registered

If your poultry and premises are already registered you can link your online account to these registrations. To do this you will need a Verification Reference Code (VRC): you will need one of these for each premises you link to. You may already have received a VRC: if not, you may need to contact the Poultry Register Helpline on 0800 634 1112 to request one.

Once you have linked your account to one or more premises, you can access or update the information associated with each premises.

Deregistering from the Poultry Register

The online service provides you with a facility to de-register a premises which you have created online or a premises you have linked to. You will be asked to enter a de-registration date and reason for the de-registration. You will also receive confirmation of the de-registration by post. If you do not receive any such confirmation within two weeks of de-registration please contact the Poultry Register Helpline on 0800 634 1112.

How Defra will use your account information

Your account information will be used by Defra to manage access to the online service. Your email address will be used to confirm your user credentials and, if necessary, to remind you of your password and/or username. In addition we may use your email or postal address to inform you of any messages to do with accessing the service, for example system changes or maintenance down time. We may use your postal address to inform you of security related activities.
