Veterinary surveillance: Great Britain Poultry Register – Non Poultry Keeper Alerts System
During heightened disease threat, we may issue a short informative SMS text message, and direct you to websites which will have more information. Alerts are for information only and are not for recipients to respond to.
This service is only available to GB residents. The GB Poultry Register Team may need to review the extent to which the above service is offered and maintained. We will keep you informed of any changes.
How To Register
If you do not keep poultry and are involved in a poultry related business which would benefit from information sent through the Alerts System, you can register yourself to receive GB Poultry Register alert messages. This may be done through the Defra Shared Stakeholder Database. Please complete either of the below forms and return it via email to vetsurveillance@defra.gsi.gov.uk with ‘GBPR Non-Poultry Keeper Alert Registration’ as the subject. Please state that you are not a poultry keeper, but wish to register on the Defra Shared Stakeholder Database, to receive GBPR alerts, and have read and agree to the conditions detailed in section ‘consent to receive messages’ below. Please use the template Microsoft Word version (37 KB) or Welsh version (35 KB) for recipient request.
Please ensure you fill in all fields in the form, which includes: Mobile Number, Email address, Landline Number, Name (Title, First Name, Surname), and Organisation / Company to which you are affiliated.
The mobile number you provide will be used to direct the alerts service SMS text message. The other details will be used to contact you in the event of any problems.
Termination
If at a later date you wish to remove yourself from receiving GB Poultry Register alert messages via the Defra Shared Stakeholder Database, please email vetsurveillance@defra.gsi.gov.uk with ‘GBPR Non-Poultry Keeper Alert Registration – Removal of Contact’ as the subject. Please state your name, mobile number, and landline number (for possible call-back), stating that you no longer wish to receive GBPR alerts.
Consent to receive messages
Defra is the data controller in respect of any personal data you provide when you complete the attached form. By registering, you indicate consent for Defra to use your information to communicate with you, to help keep you informed of other developments in Defra.
Please indicate in your returned spreadsheet if we may communicate with you* via post, telephone, fax, text message (this must be ‘Yes’ for the GBPR Alerts service) and email.
Defra may be required to release information, including personal data and commercial information, on request under the Environmental Information Regulations 2004 or the Freedom of Information Act 2000. However, Defra will not permit any unwarranted breach of confidentiality nor will we act in contravention of our obligations under the Data Protection Act 1998.
