Bluetongue: Transit through Bluetongue Zones

What movements can take place

There are no restrictions on the movement of pigs or horses as they are not susceptible to Bluetongue. The following movements may take place under the movement licences and you must comply with the conditions.

  • You can move ruminant animals from a Protection Zone (PZ) through a Surveillance Zone (SZ) to a PZ..
  • You can move ruminant animals from an area free from Bluetongue restrictions (FA) through the Restricted Zone (RZ) to a FA..
  • You can move ruminant animals from the RZ through the FA to the RZ.
  • You can move ruminant animals from the SZ through the PZ to the SZ.

What movements can’t take place

  • You cannot move ruminants from the Bluetongue Surveillance Zone except to the Bluetongue Protection Zone, or to slaughter, as outlined above.
  • Bluetongue movement licences.
