Disease control: Control of fresh meat during an outbreak of exotic disease
Special arrangements for Newcastle Disease
If the FBO wished to sell restricted poultry meat outside the Domestic (UK) Market or for domestically with a normal ID mark, you must follow the processes for other restricted meat, including only processing meat at Designated premises and applying an approved treatment at a designated treatment centre.
Special arrangements apply to Restricted Meat from poultry during an outbreak of Newcastle Disease. You may sell this fresh on the domestic market only, subject to it displaying the special mark (not an oval ID mark). Fresh restricted poultry meat cannot be exported.
Restricted meat may be sold fresh in foodstuffs to the domestic market provided that:-
poultry are slaughtered at a designated slaughterhouse
poultry meat is marked at all stages (including retail) with the special ID mark
it must be kept separate from other (non-restricted) meat.
