Diseases covered

The Products of Animal Origin (Disease Control) (England) Regulations 2008 makes provisions on how fresh meat will be controlled during an outbreak of the following diseases:

  • African Swine Fever;
  • Classical Swine Fever (CSF);
  • Newcastle Disease;
  • Peste des Petit Ruminants (Sheep and Goat Plague);
  • Rinderpest;
  • Swine Vesicular Disease (SVD).

Foot and Mouth Disease (FMD); and Avian Influenza (AI) are covered by separate legislation which has slightly different requirements in some areas, although the principles are the same.
