Animal by-products: Registration of Milk Premises under Regulation 79/2005, amending the Animal By-Products Regulation 1774/2002

Under (EC) Regulation 79/2005, milk processing establishments formerly authorised under Directive 92/46/EEC (now Council Regulation 853/2004) that consign products for animal feed, and authorised farm holdings that are feeding these products to animals, are required to be registered with Defra and to keep their customer and supplier lists up-to-date. This is so that in the event of a disease outbreak effective tracing can take place.

If your plant does any of the above you can register by emailing the Animal By-Products & Feed Policy Branch or by calling the Defra helpline and giving the information requested below.

A Q&A is available on the legislation.
