Animal by-products: Premises
Premises
that receive, handle, use, treat or destroy animal by-products must be
approved under the Animal By-Products Regulations (ABPR). This includes
premises such as rendering plants, incinerators, petfood plants, tanneries
and knackers’ yards.
Animal Health, an agency of Defra, is responsible for the inspection and approval of animal by-products premises in United Kingdom (excluding Northern Ireland) on behalf of Defra. If you have a query regarding approved premises, or need advice on local disposal routes for animal by-products please contact your local local Animal Health Divisional Office.
Operators who require an approval under the Regulations should complete the appropriate application form and submit it to their local Animal Health Office.
