Pet Travel  SchemeThis site explains what you have to do to bring your pet dog, cat or ferret into (or back into) the UK through the Pet Travel Scheme (or PETS for short) without putting it into quarantine. It also explains the requirements for bringing many other types of pet animals into the UK. This site also tells you about quarantine in the UK for animals that don't qualify for PETS. Printable factsheets are available for both vets and the public.

  • Commercial carriers Flybe, Thomson Airways and Mexicana have announced new assistance dog routes into the UK.
  • Commercial carriers Thomson Airways and British Airways have announced new PETS routes into the UK.
  • Ferry company Norfolklines have announced a new PETS route into the UK.

  • The European Commission has published a proposal to extend the transitional arrangements applicable for the movement of pet dogs, cats and ferrets into the UK, Ireland, Finland, Malta and Sweden until 31 December 2011. This proposal needs to be agreed by the European Parliament and Council before it can be formally adopted.
